La sfida
RetailElite sells on Bol.com and Amazon and processes thousands of orders per month. Payouts arrived in batches: one amount per period, with commissions, shipping costs, returns and corrections compressed into it.
The finance team ran spot checks in Excel. Small differences between expected and received amounts were dismissed as rounding differences — too small to investigate per order, too vague to claim.
Nobody could say whether the fees withheld matched the agreed rates, let alone how much margin was being left on the table every month.

For each order, the commission was recalculated against the agreed rates. Every difference, however small, was categorized by error type and totalled per marketplace.
